Rubber Bracelets Fundraising
Men and women alike cannot walk out though the door of their cribs without wearing any accessories in their bodies. We usually wear wristwatch, earrings, necklace, rings and bracelets almost everyday and at least one of them is present if not all. Rubber bracelets fund raising item hit the public because they are so trendy and fashionable that both the young and adults love them.
The rubber bracelets fundraising were popularized during Lance Armstrong’s campaign to fight against cancer in 2004. He is the famous seven-time Tour de France cyclist who also survived cancer. In the “Live Strong” campaign, the rubber bracelets came in yellow color, which resembles his jersey as the winner of the said cycling competition. After the campaign, people had been calling their foundation if they could make rubber bracelets for their companies and use them as a fund raising item. However, the original idea of these rubber bracelets came from the Nike Corporation. The organization said that they wanted to do something for Lance to support him in his campaign do they have thought about the rubber bracelet idea.
Most sports teams, may they be baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer teams, have contributed to make these rubber bracelets more attractive by customizing and personalizing them. Rubber bracelets, otherwise called as silicon bracelets, come in different colors and shapes. Straps and buttons can be added and some of them even have LCD clocks! You can also have them with custom designs. Mold them with your personal messages and they can be embossed or screen printed. It’s also possible to design them using up to five different colors. Swirls, stripes and vertical lines can be added too. Well, rubber bracelets are not bad for a fund raising idea, aren’t they?
Parents do not need to worry about their kids wearing them because the material used is 100% SRS safe silicon. Silicon Recycling Services, Inc. (SRS) manufactures a safe silicon product which is AZO, Cadmium and toxic free. Out in the market, several products contain some toxic materials that are not suitable for children. So these rubber or silicon bracelets are made harmless for both young and adult.
AZO material is commonly used as dyes to color textiles and plastics. This material is harmful to the environment. It contains by-products that are toxic and can be a potential carcinogen. AZO withstand biodegradation so it stays in the environment. Cadmium is also a hazard to health especially with prolonged exposure. It can damage our lungs, stomach and eventually affect our kidneys. Therefore, if the rubber or silicon bracelet contains this, then these items are not advisable to be used for fund raising. Fortunately, SRS made it possible since the Lance Armstrong fight-against-cancer campaign.
Ever since this campaign happened, the environmental-friendly rubber bracelets have raise funds for a lot or groups like sports teams who requested for wristbands with the team’s name on it. Schools also ordered for these items, personalized them and used them as their fund raising idea.
Rubber bracelet fund raising can bring enough profit for a group cause while promoting the awareness and memory of the campaign they have supported. People would be carrying these rubber bracelets anywhere and any time for they are actually remembering the value of the things they have supported.
