Fundraising companies are the ideal partners for any small nonprofit organization to have. Being a nonprofit organization, it is inevitable that it would need to raise money for a certain purpose at one time or another. This is when the companies would enter the picture.

Whatever your fundraising campaign may be, there are certain things you need to remember in choosing which company to hire. First off, browse through the many companies that you can come up with, and select the three that you like best. You should then ask these three to prepare a proposal as to how they would handle your fundraising event for you. Ask them to include the following points in their proposals: the length of time it would take the company to coordinate the whole fund raising event; the advertising methods the company plans to employ; the resources and materials the fund raising company would need from you; the implementation costs and expenditures that would be incurred; and a list of their clients, both previous and current.

With the list of the clients they have previously handled, choose the ones that were handled within the last three years. You can then contact these companies and ask them how they found the service of the fundraisers themselves. More importantly, you should compare the goal figure with the actual figure that the company was able to raise. The actual figure is actually indicative of the company’s success rate in the industry.

As for every donation received, determine the figure that goes to administrative costs. This figure includes the costs that are related to the hiring of the fund raising company. If you find that more than thirty cents for every dollar raised goes to administrative costs, then it will most likely be problematic finding donors for your cause.

Of the three companies that you have selected, you should further select the two that are better. You should then conduct an online search for these two companies. Look for clients that might have had problems with the companies and determine what these problems were. Complaints made against such companies will surely make their way into the web. Another way of determining the existence of such complaints is by checking the Better Business Bureau online.

Fund raising companies can either make or break the success of your campaign. Detailed research should then be conducted before you hire any of these companies to raise funds for your cause. You will be able to make a more educated decision this way.
